Ombuds Process

A new way to share concerns and support continuous improvement

The AAC Board is pleased to introduce the AAC Ombuds Process, launching January 1, 2027.

The Ombuds Process provides AAC members with a fair, respectful, and confidential way to raise concerns related to judging, course design, course safety, and course approval at AAC-sanctioned events. The goal is not to assign blame or discipline, but to create opportunities for constructive dialogue, learning, consistency, safety, and continuous improvement across our sport.

An independent Ombuds Panel will review concerns and, where appropriate, provide clarification, educational feedback, recommendations, or identify opportunities to strengthen AAC standards, training, and processes.

The Ombuds Process is not an appeal process and will not overturn judging calls, trial results, placements, titles, or previous course approvals.

Ombuds Panel

The panel will include:

  • One Course Approver
  • One Judge
  • One AAC Member-at-Large

Interested in serving on the panel?

AAC is currently seeking Expressions of Interest from members who would like to serve on the inaugural Ombuds Panel.

We are looking for individuals who are fair, objective, respected within the agility community, and committed to fostering a positive and constructive experience for AAC members. Experience in judging, course approval, trial hosting, teaching, governance, mediation, or policy interpretation is an asset.

Expressions of Interest must be submitted to your Regional Director by October 31, 2026.

For complete information about the Ombuds Process, including panel qualifications, responsibilities, submission procedures, and service standards, please see the AAC Ombuds Standard Operating Procedure below.

We look forward to launching this important new program and creating another avenue for member feedback to help strengthen the future of AAC.
